Disclaimer: Song belongs
to Sting. Buffy & co belong to Joss Whedon. "Delilah After
Dark" is a national radio program that plays soft music for cuddling,
contemplation, dedications, etc.
Notes: This idea came about while researching "Every Little Thing She
Does is Magic" by the Police. Whereas "Every Little Thing"
is uplifting and happy, this one is a bit more melancholy. Set during 3rd
season -- soon after Angel's return from Hell.
Warning: MAJOR hankie alert!
My One and Only Love
by Wendy Myers
"Here's something for those lovebirds tonight this
Valentine's." Delilah's voice was soft and pleasant as it played on
the car radios at Makeout Point.
*The very thought of you makes my heart sing
Like an April breeze
On the wings of spring
And you appear in all your splendor
My one and only love*
Elsewhere, Buffy assist a newly returned Angel onto the couch in the mansion's
living room. His return from the hell dimension had left him weak and
vulnerable. Since his return, Buffy had been over almost every night to
care for her vampire boyfriend.
"Aren't you supposed to be patrolling?"
Buffy snuggled next to him. "Still have a few hours. Besides,
no fresh graves tonight."
*The shadows fall and spread their mystic charms
In the hush of night
While you're in my arms
I feel your lips so warm and tender
My one and only love*
They fell silent, delighting in each other's company.

Across town, things were not so pleasant.
Giles sat in his apartment, a glass of whiskey in one hand and a photo album on
his lap. The pictures inside were of Jenny, taken by strangers using her
camera at various places they had visited together.
*The touch of your hand is like heaven
A heaven that I've never known
The blush on your cheek whenever I speak
Tells me that you are my own*
Giles gazed at her picture, smiling sadly at her beauty. God, she was
beautiful. So beautiful.
*"In my years as Watcher, I've buried too many people," he told
Buffy while they stood at Jenny Calendar's gravesite. "Jenny was the
first I'd ever loved."*
He had tried to ignore all the Valentine's decorations that adorned the school
walls and the giddy expressions of couples in love by hiding in the library --
either in his office or the stacks. He had only emerged, when Buffy
arrived for her training, which ended when he'd dismissed her while lying on
the floor -- again.
*You fill my eager heart with such desire
Every kiss you give sets my soul on fire
I give myself in sweet surrender
My one and only love*
His vision blurred as he turned the pages, caught in memories.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Buffy and Angel sat for hours just enjoying the company of each other.
"It'll be light soon," Angel commented as he stroked her blonde hair.
*The blush on your cheek whenever I speak
Tells me that you are my own*
Buffy groaned. Lifting her head from Angel's shoulder, Buffy reluctantly
got to her feet. "Guess I'd better, huh?" She smiled shyly.
Angel returned the smile.
Buffy gathered her things. "See you tomorrow." She gave
him a peck on the cheek and was gone.
*Every kiss you give sets my soul on fire
I give myself in sweet surrender
My one and only love*
Angel touched his cheek and smiled.

*My one and only love*
Giles closed the book and wept.
